This 5 inch long Gator Rail optic holder fits on top of all Costa handguard rails.
Why a three rail arrangement?
The Costa Ludus / Ranger Point handguard and rail system was designed to provide bolt action rifle shooters with exceptional flexibility in setup and cost while maintaining the handling and accuracy characteristics we love about these fine firearms.
To accomplish all of these goals, the top Picatinny rail has been divided into 3 separate sections.
The handguard can be used with all 3 Picatinny top rails, none, or any combination of two.
It is worth noting that installing one or more Gator rails makes the handguard even more stable.
To accommodate a range of rifle manufacturing tolerances, the entire handguard/rail system has been designed with adjustable mounts.
At Ranger Point Precision, a conscious decision was made not to use a continuous top rail to reduce the impact of manufacturing tolerances on accuracy.
As previous experience as a custom bolt action rifle manufacturer has shown, accuracy generally decreases when connecting the receiver to the barrel with a continuous rail.
For the same reason, bridging the receiver rail to the Gator rail with a single optic is strongly discouraged.
WORKS WITH: Costa M-LOK Handguard, which is supplied with a Gator. This would be the second to have a continuous rail at the top of the handguard.
FASTENING: Uses 4 screws to attach to the top of the Costa handguard for extended optic options.
NOT COMPATIBLE WITH: Our Gen 2 handguards (Black, Moss, FDE or other). Only the Costa handguards have attachment points at the top (left and right) for these Picatinny rails to screw on.
