Excelent mag(16.10.2009)
Nice magazine, easy to feed. Works flawlessy.
Quality Magazines(27.10.2009)
A top quality magazine that also looks great. The numbers laser etched into the magazine body are large and easy to read. The base plate numbering system is a nice feature. The base plates are slightly longer than some other 8 round magazines, however, the extra length makes seating the mag easier and without pinching any flesh.
Excellent magazine(28.10.2009)
The Ed Brown 8 round magazines feed flawlessly, prevent top round nose dives and reliably lock the slide open - these are the magazines I carry for duty - so you might say I'd bet my life on them. While they are slightly longer than standard, it allows for the follower to have longer "legs" which prevent the top round of a fully loaded mag from diving or hanging up on the ramp - great design.
so-so(21.02.2010)
The mag body is thin and flexible giving it a somewhat cheap feel. The base plate is the same old plastic that tends to crack when dropped on a hard floor and the feed lips are sharp.
On the plus side, the follower is a good design, the spring is strong and the holes on the side line up well with the rounds.
Works well in my 45s, not 460 Rowland(03.09.2010)
I pretty much agree with everthing in the other reviews, and have never had a problem with them when feeding 45ACP 1911s.
I just wanted to add that these mags (or rather their followers?) will not work in my 460 Rowland w/ ramped barrel. With the Corbon 255gr JHP, they always nosedive and jam the first round, and subsequent rounds fail to feed smoothly. 230gr FMJs fare only slightly better, while both rounds feed flawlessly in the same pistol when using a split follower.
So I suspect the issue is more related to the ramped barrel, but I have no 45ACP ramped barrel to test.
functional, reliable, durable!(12.09.2010)
The mags have performed well in competition with no problems so far. If you are running a 45 with a mag well these should fit with no problems at all. The handy 88 numbering system on the base make for easy mag identification. They are well made and worth every penny
My favorite 1911 mag!(16.12.2010)
I had used some of the Ed Brown 7-round mags in the past, and I loved them. They even worked perfectly in a custom 10mm. I went through many different magazines trying to cure the occasional last-round ejection problem with my Springfield TRP. I wasn't all that impressed even by some of the other really well-known mags out there. These 8-Pack mags are perfect!
They fit more snugly in the mag well. When you press them up into the gun, they click into place and stay there instead of falling back out slightly as with many other mags. In other words, they place the top round up slightly higher for better feeding. The follower design is my all-time favorite, and when it's combined with the more modern overall design makes this the perfect magazine. I have nothing against the synthetic followers used in other mags, but I don't think they're as durable where they interface with the slide lock. Plus, the rounded follower more precisely mimics a live round of ammo which helps prevent the extracted case from falling free of the extractor. This is the one magazine that I am willing to bet my life on over all the others.
Works in my Kimber(24.03.2011)
I purchased a Kimber a few years back to replace my worn out Colt Series 70 1911. I shoot IDPA, IPSC and PPC using a Single Stack 45acp. It seems my old mags that worked flawlessly in the Colt were not very reliable in the Kimber. I have tried several different brands of magazines and these are the only ones that work.
I would use and recommend the mags(04.08.2011)
I am a Police Officer in a busy Southern California city. I carry a Springfield Marine operator on duty. I use Ed Brown eight round mags and Tripp eight round mags on/off duty. The Ed Brown mags work flawlessly and can take a beating. They work after being ejected on cement in the dirt or in wet grass. My life depends on my equipment and I trust Ed Brown eight round mags.
Great Mag(28.06.2012)
I have six of these magazines and have never had an issue (1000+ rounds so far) in my executive carry. You really do get what you pay for with Ed Brown products. I load my own ammo using a Dillon 650 press, Bullseye powder, 230 grain RN Berry's platted bullet, and Winchester large pistol primers. In fact, I'm very satisfied with everything on the list above. I'm currently testing out my own cast bullets, using lee products and so far have been very succesful.
These are newest gen 8-pack mags(28.02.2013)
Ed Brown 8 packs are the best. These are newest design with redesigned base pad and internal steel insert that will not blowout if plastic base pad were to fail. A significant thing! The follower has a little dimple that keeps first round loaded in proper position and is teflon coated. These are great and also solve the first round nosedive feed issue some Kimber owners experience with third party mags.
Good quality, Functions Flawlessly(23.10.2013)
I use these magazines in two different 1911s. They functioned flawlessly. They are well constructed, the follower is steel with the raised dimple. The follower moves smoothly and does not tip. Base pad or bumper is removable and the welded steel base plate is tapped with standard spacing so the pad can be changed to one with a different thickness. Magazine locks into the weapon and drops with no hesitation.
