Ultra-Reliable, Extra-Capacity & Smooth Feeding Of All The Rounds
Wilson Combat applied 30 years of experience building high-performance 1911 magazines to develop this ultra-reliable magazine for combat, competition, or self-defense. Made with state-of-the-art materials using the latest manufacturing technology, these single-stack magazines are built tough to keep running in unforgiving, real-world conditions. The body formed from extra-thick stainless steel, with the radius of each curve engineered to minimize stress points, virtually eliminates feed lip cracking and stress fatigue. Even the position of the witness slots toward the rear is designed to enhance structural integrity. A proprietary welding, deburring, and polishing process provides an unusually strong, super-smooth seam to ensure snag-free follower movement and easy insertion in the mag well. The non-tilt follower of self-lubricating polymer fully supports the ammo stack to prevent nose-dives, double feeds, and other hang-ups. The mag body design puts less tension on the spring than standard magazines, increasing spring life and making it easy to seat a fully loaded magazine with the slide closed. The polymer base pad adds minimal bulk yet ensures a firm purchase even when your hands are wet; removes easily for cleaning. Numbers 1 through 10 stamped on the bottom help you mark each of your magazines to track usage and performance. .45 ACP fits Gov’t Model; 8 round capacity; round-count numbers stamped on body next to witness holes. Available in natural Silver or Black Oxide finish in singles or in convenient, money-saving 3-Paks with or without a Michael’s of Oregon double mag pouch of rugged, high-impact Kydex® molded polymer. ETM MAX Magazines feature the MAX flatwire magazine springs. The heat-treated MAX flatwire construction never gets stressed or over-compressed like a conventional spring and is guaranteed tonever require replacement even after high round counts or daily, extreme duty use. Maximum longevity MAX flatwire spring will never lose optimum feeding tension as long as you own the magazine -guaranteed! Extensively tested by the Wilson Combat Shooting Team and testfire crew. Maximum corrosion resistance-heat treated stainless MAX spring won’t corrode in high humidity or marine environments-a leading cause of service pistol spring fatigue.
SPECS: 17-7 stainless steel, natural silver or black oxide, finish, with black polymer follower and base pad. Gov’t .45 ACP - 5" (12.7cm) OAL. 8-round capacity.

Top of the line(17.07.2014)
These magazines are the Cadillac of 1911 mags. The flat-wire springs are excellent and the magazine bodies feature several features (such as beveling for easier insertion past the magazine release) that until now I've had to 'smith myself. The steel bases DO provide enough clearance for use in the S&A magazine well.
Magazine Tube Sticks Out to Far... (04.08.2015)
These magazines are some of the BEST one can buy for their 1911, but they stick out quite a bit. The body of magazine is actually visible, without a magwell. That is just a bit of info I wish I had known before ordering 13 of these(W.C. Mags 500C-HD). I prefer a flush magazine and these are the exact opposite of that. They are NOT "lo-pro"(by any standard), because around half of a centimeter of the actual magazine body hangs out from the 1911 when inserted(not including the extra length of the base pad).
Great product. A true 8-round magazine that'll lock into a closed slide. (Most 8 round magazines will hold 8, but will only snap into a open slide) Function is 100% so far, as well as the fit & finish. Removable, blued steel floorplate is a nice touch.
High Qualtiy Name, Low Quality Product(21.11.2014)
First off, I am a Wilson Combat magazine fan. I have more than a few of their 47D series of magazines. I have never had any issues with the 47D mags.
I purchased this Black ETM mag for concealed carry use. I like a low profile mag pad, and wanted to try something different than the 47DC I normally carry. I went with the Black mag for a "low profile" look on a parkerized gun.
Out of the package, I noticed the follower was "sticky" and did not want to move. It took more than the normal effort to load the magazine up. I did let the magazine sit fully loaded (8 rounds) for several days prior to taking it too the range.
Suffice to say, I'm glad I tested this magazine out prior to depending on it. Class 3 malfunction after class 3 malfunction. The follower seems to be dragging on what ever coating Wilson used to color the magazine black. This will be getting returned for a "normal" Wilson 500 ETM.
The Best(28.01.2010)
Wilson Mags are the Best. They function flawlessly
Added reliability(10.04.2010)
I use these magazines in my duty pistol that I carry for patrol. They add instant reliability to your 1911-style pistol and have never fouled up in the nearly 1000 rounds I have put through them. I would highly recommend these mags!
Follower sticking.(01.10.2016)
Follower is sticking on the ETM Black, any one else have this issue?
Big thumbs up for Wilson ETM(03.09.2009)
I've used the standard '47D' magazines for a while with my 1911s, and when it came time for some new mags, these ETMs had just been released. I grabbed a couple and put a couple hundred rounds through them. My first impression was that they were sturdier than the regular 47D mags, and I really liked the number markings on the baseplates. No more coming up with my own markings for range use! As usual, the Wilson mags solve many problems that others can't seem to with 1911s. Of all the feed malfunctions I've seen, Wilson mags just tend to fix them. I've bought several since my initial purchase and will continue to do so.
A good magazine(20.09.2009)
The ETM is an improvement over the 47D, and works well out of the bag. The body seems stronger than the 47D as does the spring. However, the springs could stand to be stronger. Many will stop locking back the slides if kept loaded or subjected to a lot of cycles. The good news is the manufacturer has great customer service and will replace weak springs if you just ask. Bottom line, a good magazine as long as you stay on top of the springs and check them often.
Solid Product(20.10.2009)
This is a marked improvement on the other wilson mags. As some of the other reviews have said it is a very solid des. Just be careful that your mag well (if you use one) is wide enough to take the larger base of this mag.
Doesn't Get Any Better!!(15.08.2010)
This is the absolute best magazine you can purchase for your 1911. I have used many other brands, including the Kimber Tac Mags. and this mag is far superior to any of them. Easy to load and have never had a failure to feed with this mag. I like these so much that I sold all my other magus and purchased 7 of these. They are FANTASTIC!!!
nice, but...(18.09.2010)
I have used wilson magazines since I discovered them while in the Marine Corps and don't intend to use anything else. That said this magazine with all of it's new improvements has a spring that seems to soften quickly. I use 8 rounders for carry and this spring does not inspire confidence.
Just great 1911 .45ACP magazine!(27.10.2010)
I buy this one for my STI Troyan 5'' .45 ACP. Well ETM works JUST A PERFECT!!! Zero problems! WIll buy again other one! The best 1911 .45 ACP magazine I ever own!
Wilson combat my favorite 1911 mags.(05.08.2011)
bought two for my springfield Mil-spec, works flawlessly its everything I've expected.
Good Mags(06.09.2011)
Wilson Combat mags are by far the best I have ever used. I have replaced all of my other factory mags with WC mags. The only negative comment about the ETM specifically is that I run mag wells on all my 1911s. The flared and widened base pad makes contact with the mag well before the mag fully seats. I had to trim quite a bit of material off the base plate to get it to seat properly. The only other option is to use different base plates, which sort of nullifies the need for the ETM. Other than that, they work great.
Favorite mags. period(16.12.2011)
These magazines are great. The rubber cap gives positive control when pulling out of mag holders as well as positive insertion into the mag well. I buy one or two with every order.
Best Mag Available Without Question(21.12.2011)
I own two of these Elite mags along with several other 47D Wilson mags, and I must say that have performed flawlessly. I shoot IDPA and IPSC and these are the only mags that I trust in competition and/or carry. Wilson Combat definitely puts out great products and this is one of their best. I would recommend this to any serious competitive shooter or person who wishes to have only the best mags for their 1911. Wilson Combat also backs their products with unparralled support. Thanks Wilson for another great item. I will be a customer for life.
Wilson Combat mags(29.12.2011)
Without a doubt, the best 1911 mags ever made. I have these in ALL my 1911's, the manufacturer mags go in the garbage.
Wilson Combat Elite Tac Mag(03.02.2012)
Fixed a loading problem with my 1911 A1. Would not load the firsthollow point round of an 8 rd mag. Works ike a champ now. I will be getting 3 more in near future. Service from Brownells was great.
drops free in 2 out of three(16.09.2012)
Construction is awesome. The only bummer is that it drops free in two out of my three 45s. Reliability is 5 stars.
OVERRATED(27.09.2012)
THE SPRINGS IN THESE MAGS SUCK! AFTER ABOUT 2 MONTHS BULLETS STARTED NOSE DIVING & SLIDES STARTED FAILING TO LOCK BACK. THEY WORKED OKAY IN MY CQB AND MY ED BROWNS UNTIL THE SPRINGS GAVE OUT BUT THEY WILL NOT EVEN LOCK INTO MY LES BAER SRP?(IT DOES NOT HAVE A MAGWELL.) THE ONLY REASON IT GETS 2 STARS IS BECAUSE WILSON WILL PUT NEW SPRINGS IN THEM FOR FREE, BUT I HAVE TO MAIL THEM THE MAGS. IMO MCCORMICK POWER MAGS & BROWN 8-PACKS ARE BETTER OPTIONS.
Top Quality Magazine(18.10.2012)
Use these mags in my Sig 1911 Scorpion for work. They work flawlessly every time!! Recommend them to all 1911 owners!!
Can't get any better!!!!!(06.03.2013)
Best Wilson Magazine hands down! Possibly the best 1911 magazine period, neck-and-neck with CMC Power Plus....
Best 1911 magazines available(25.05.2013)
Wilson Combat makes some of the best 1911 magazines out there. Of all the different brands I've used, Wilson mags seem to feed so much smoother and I've never had a single failure to feed in my Sig 1911 while using Wilson mags. I've used them in other 1911's however, I did not own them. They worked 100% in all of them though. I think it's safe to say that they definitely increase feeding reliability in any 1911.
Failed to engage slide lock(17.02.2014)
Ordered a pair to use on my new Sig Sauer 1911R-SSS pistol. Neat looks. I like the scalloped polymer follower, and very easy to load. New slot/window quickly shows round count. Functions well when not loaded. However, at the range - right of the first run, both magazines failed to lock the slide open after the last round fired. Magazines would not drop freely when mag release button is pressed. Have to pull them out by the base pads. Run about 190 rounds through them using various brands and weight, the problem did not correct itself. No jams, FTE/FTF though. It's not the gun for sure, because the 2 mags that came with the gun and a pair of Kimbers worked well without any hiccups.
great(12.03.2014)
These are great mags as is to be expected from Wilson Combat!
I have 20 and still buying more(25.05.2014)
I use these in my S&W 1911 model "E" They all have worked flawlessly with all 45 acp commercial ammo I have used. FMJ and JHP all loads perfectly. I have never had a jam or misfed round. Super quality, heavy made, numbered round holes on side of mag. You can never go wrong buying these mags
not the best imo(13.03.2015)
Bought 6 of these mags after many recommendations. Took these to the range and continually had 3 point jams on all second to last rounds (any ammo) with all of these mags in my kimber. Weak mag springs. Fixed it by installing Wolff mag springs. Never had this problem with any other brand magazines (Wolff, Kimber(stock), mec-gar, Chip McCormick, Tripp research, and metal form.)Gave 2stars cause it works great with Wolff springs.
Square Floorplate Pokes Me(23.06.2015)
I bought several of these magazines based on the great Brownells description and the sale price at the time. The Elite Tactical magazines function great, as expected from Wilson Combat. However, one thing I never considered was the shape of the Floorplate. It is flat on the bottom, and flares out into a thin square edge. Although slightly rounded, the square corners poke me in the side while in a magazine pouch. I have four mag holders on my competition belt and the magazines poke me in a couple of the positions. I don't want to have to worry about which magazine I place where in order to stay comfortable when I am out shooting/competing. I'm sticking with the tried and true 47D mags from Wilson instead.
1911 Wilson Combat Mag 45(28.11.2015)
These magazine make any 1911 function much more reliable than stock magazines, they are simply the best !
Poor follower design/material(22.03.2017)
Being a fan of the model 47 mags in my carry gun, I REALLY wanted to like these. I ordered 4 to try in my USPSA gun. At the range, they were fine: fed well when new, locked the slide (not a big deal), always fed rounds. The problems began when I started running them in indoor matches this winter. When I would drop an empty mag on the fly and it would hit the floor and strike the follower end, it would knock the follower out of position, cockeyed at 45 degrees, nose up. the mag would have to be partly dissembled to force the follower back into position. Several times this happened and the follower itself cracked on the bottom edge that protruded. On inspection I found the front edge of the follower is very short, the lower edge is just barely below the edge of the mag tube. any significant pressure on the front of the follower and it would pop out and hang up on that edge. Adding to the issue is the fact the follower itself is made of considerably thinner plastic than other mags causing it to deform easily (now I see why another manufacturer puts a small metal plate there to reinforce..) I actually returned the first batch to Brownells thinking it was a defect. second set did the same thing.
I retired these to target range use only and NEVER drop them out of the gun. I will toss them out when the followers wear through and/or crack.
If you're looking for something to mess about with the range and you treat your gear gently, these are OK, but overpriced for that use. If you need your mags to work EVERY TIME without hassle or worry, even if they have been dropped etc, I suggest checking other models/manufacturers. There's better options out there.
The best 1911 magazine(15.10.2017)
1911 magazines don't get any better than this. Very good pricing from Brownells.
The best 45ACP 1911 mags ever!(16.05.2018)
I've been using Wilson 47D mags for years. They worked well but were a little difficult to seat in my SA Trophy Match with a Dawson Ice magwell. When I tried the new ETM mags I was in love. The slight extra tube length solved all seating problems and made them easier to load to boot. My only caution would be that with some basepads the gun is going to be a tight fit in "the box". Since I use the Dawson Ice no-gap magwell (funnel) I must also use the Dawson no-gap basepads. That combination just barely fits. If my rear sight weren't spring loaded it would be a no-go but since it is I'm a happy camper. I might add that I'm using 200gr SWCs loaded to 1.250" and I've never had a FTF.
Great mags(16.08.2018)
Been using 47d mags for a while. Saw these on sale and grabbed 2. They stick out farther that the 47d but they still look great on my 1911 even without a magwell. More importantly they function flawlessly with ball AND JHP bullets. The construction is great and they feel even more solid than my 47d mags. I would not carry these concealed in the summer unless they were in a spare mag carrier due to printing. Ive had no problems with them yet. At $25 sale price now is the time to buy. Great value. Ill be phasing out my non WC mags with these. Thanks for the great deals Brownells.
