Good gear(07.03.2013)
Great for any use: Leo, mil, self defense and competition Easy to install and easier to take gun apart I have nothing negative to say about this product
Very Well Made(03.05.2013)
Nice quality stainless 2 piece guide rod. Installed it into my Colt Gold Cup Trophy with a Wilson Combat Shok Buffer. Love the look when the slide is locked back and easy to take apart. I've never had one come apart on me and have bought one for every 1911 I've owned.
Remington 1911 R1(11.10.2015)
I bought this guide rod for my Remington 1911 R1 and it fit perfectly without fitting. The rod is machined so well that when the two pieces are screwed together, it could be mistaken for a one-piece. I also like the added weight to the pistol - it should help reduce her muzzle flip.
The only thing I would change is the fact that it isn't polished and therefore doesn't quite match the barrel and bushing. Not a big deal though - I'm gonna try to polish it myself.
Excellent Part(11.02.2011)
Purchased one piece guide rod for a custom commander build in 400 corbon. The rod come supplied with plug. Overall fantastic fit and finish. Very strong and worked flawlessly with a Wolf 20# extra power spring. Only negative was the muzzle end of the rod looked like it cut off from a govt. length unit. Fine machining marks were visible but cleaned up easily with 400/800 grit paper. Overall, very impressive part for the money, with only the smallest issue keeping it from a 5 rating.
TOO LONG(18.08.2012)
Nice well made piece of work, but it was too long . Had to take about .05" off the end so that the barrel collar could move past it to seat the spring plug. For [$] I would expect better from Wilson
Great Addition(15.06.2013)
Simple, effective, and inexpensive. There is really no reason not to use this product. It dropped right in, makes cycling the gun smoother, adds a little extra weight up front for minor recoil reduction, and I think it looks good.
Thank God for the reviews on Brownells(11.06.2014)
This guide rod is exactly what I needed. I have an ATI 1911 Commander G.I. Enhanced model, and from reading the reviews, I believed this would work, though I might need to fit it. I did not understand exactly what the reviewers meant by needing to grind/file the length of the rod, until I tried to install mine. Thankfully, the folks that reviewed this item game me enough info. to sort of know what was needed to be done, or I'd have been left cursing my bad luck. Thanks Brownells and the other reviewers as well. This item works perfectly, you just need to shorten it and the spring cap on a grinder and then finish file and sand it to a perfect finish. That is not the product's fault, it is the ATI 1911's fault, it is a little different than other firearms, evidently.
Not a fit for the ATI Firepwr Xtrme GI (27.08.2014)
I gave this item a middle of the road grade. Finnish was above par, fit was well below par. This is supposed to fit a Commander, my gun barrel measured from below the shroud to the end of the barrel is 4 !/4"; the guide rod is about 1/8-3/16" too long and the spring cap will need grinding also for the bushing to clear. Maybe it's just ATI's wackey measurements compared to other Commanders but this is unacceptable. I can use a file a bit and I do when installing a trigger or something else that's needs just a bit of stoning maybe but removing enough metal requiring a grinder is not good. I'm gonna have to ask for an RMA/refund for this piece.
Great quality as always(11.09.2015)
I put this in my Sig 1911 tacops carry. This FLGR definitely made the accuracy way better. Would even be better if the come blued.
Excellent machining(08.02.2011)
Used in a Colt conversion kit buildup on new frame. Just be aware it's magnetic but a Precision blueing process would not work on it, acted like stainless.
Easy Upgrade(10.02.2011)
This was an easy to install upgrade for my Springfield GI. I love it!
easy upgrade(04.05.2011)
dropped right into my Remington 1911R1 no issues
great product(16.06.2011)
works great tightened up my gun made it shoot way better.
Love it(26.11.2011)
Got this for my SA 1911. Dropped right in with no fuss. Love the way it made the action smoother and tighter. Love it!
Improves accuracy(13.01.2012)
I bought one and soon after I bought a second for two of my SA 1911A1 Mil-Spec. (SS & Park.) Improved big time on tight groupings. Very easy to install. I had the two piece from SA before these. The Wilson spring guide and other parts is number one with me for the 1911A1. Semper Fi!
I like it(09.02.2012)
Seems to have taken up what little play there was in the slide/frame. Very nice piece. Only wish I could of got the plug in black as it stands out alittle on my Para GI Expert. But the barrel is also stainless so they match.
Great Product(12.02.2012)
I have bought 3 of these for different 45's over the years. You can actually feel how it smooths the slide cycle as soon as you install it and rack the slide. Once it is installed you can't feel the spring kinking and ketching when you rack the slide. I can't prove my guns cycle smoother during rapid fire but they certainly seems to. The added bonus is that you can remove the slide without removing the recoil spring.
One of the BEST add on piece to any 1911(22.04.2012)
I put this in my COLT 1991 A1 it drop right in without any modication it also gave the gun a thghter slide to frame fit & tighter groups on paper if your looking for a way to inprove your slide to frame fit without spending a lot of money look no further it will also extend the life of your recoil spring
Worth the Money(12.01.2013)
I installed this in my Sig 1911 tactical with a Wilson 18 lb. recoil spring and added a recoil buffer it works great. Improved the accuracy and operation of the gun. I replaced the factory spring because it would not fit the guide rod. You will need the 1911 tool to remove and install the rod.
Wilson Guid Rod(11.03.2013)
Well seems to fit but the one I got the rod was really rough as well as the bushing so they did not slide smoothly against each other. Also milling in the plug would make the spring interfere with installing the mushing into the gun so sending it back to be exanged for another one to see if I get lucky.
SA 1911 Great fit(19.09.2013)
I got this for my SA Trophy Match 1911. Dropped right in with no issues. It made the action smoother and tighter and no more needing another tool for the field strip.
ParaOrdnance - Frankenstein(12.07.2014)
Used this guide rod in a high capacity 1911 built from a Para Ordnance POF45 frame kit. Fit was excellent and functions perfectly. This should help prevent recoil spring binding. It does make the pistol slightly harder to disassemble. However, with minimal practice I was able to disassemble without tools. Of course a bushing wrench does simplify disassembly.
