Some modification required(08.10.2009)
Requires cutting out the back of the trigger with a dremel and cut off wheel. This allows the crimpped part of the plunger (power trigger) to clear when the trigger is pulled. Installed trigger has a slightly slower let off maybe due to the reduced spring; but has a more positive stopping point when taking the slack out of the trigger in single action. Once slack is out a slight pull and the hammer falls. I have not performed a trigger pull test on none of the pistols I have modified, but it feels between 3-4 lbs. in single action. Once modified you wlll have to replace your trigger to put the original mouse trap spring back in if your not satisfied with the Wolff product. I'm not sure that its worth the effort.
Good and low cost Upgrade Truly Drop-in(16.03.2010)
I am not a big fan of Drop-in upgrades The term is over used. For most it should read an easy job for a gunsmith. This is truly Drop-in. I own 2 92 FS 9mm Berreta's. One I sent to Berreta for a trigger job and one I used the Wolff power unit. I could not tell a difference. I also felt I increased the reliablity of the one with the unit but I have had no problems either. I had to make no modifications to install the unit.
Good Investment(29.07.2011)
I went with the reduced power spring coupled with a 13/14lb mainspring. The difference is night & day. Dropped right in with the metal trigger, no fitting, no dremelling or anything. Solid quality, 100% reliability & a captured spring as well. Two thumbs up, IMO.
Good product(31.05.2012)
Litterally drop in no fitting required. Nice captured spring set up works better than the factory and reduced trigger pull on double and single. Combined with a "D" spring trigger pull in double is down to 7 pounds +/- a little and single has lightened up some to. Instructions were easy to follow even though I read them after I put the unit in. If that tells you how easy this swap is.
Easy easy install; bad trigger feel(16.07.2012)
The piece wasn't created with the highest quality. the rod wasn't even, and would but more and less smooth depending on the rotation of the rod. It would stick in some places.
Secondly, the spring was too light. I did some light stoning of my sear and hammer to ease it up, as well as installing a standard D mainspring, but neither helped. The lightness caused the trigger to feel so staged that the break was worse than without the piece.
The standard weight version might have been better, but the tolerences of the shared parts rendered the piece worthless.
Great Upgrade..But did need a little TLC(09.08.2012)
Easy install and a great upgrade. But it did take a little sanding on the the unit to fit right between the trigger. Nothing a little 400 hundred grit sandpaper and a few seconds didn't cure. Once that was done it fit right in and worked like a charm.
Works great with mods to trigger & unit(25.09.2012)
If you worry about your factory trigger spring breaking, here is the solution. This will work with the polymer trigger if you cut out the rear of the trigger for clearence. Easy job with a dremel and cutoff wheel. The rear of the Wolff unit is crimped, the crimp needs to be shortened for clearence also. Maybe 1/16" on mine. I was going to add a trigger stop, but the Wolff unit limits rearward trigger travel because of the overall length. That is why i had to trim the crimp on mine. I have a Italian 92fs, maybe there are some dimension differences internally compared to the USA version. Either way, get it and fit it. Great addition, makes a reliable pistol that much more so.
It Helps....(20.12.2013)
Well made and helps the trigger pull a little. Add the hammer "D" spring and it helps clean up and take the trigger pull down a bit. This item is billed as improving on the stock triger spring that is "known to fail". I have fired lots (20-30K over the years) of rounds out of several M9's, neved had or seen a trigger spring go south. But the low price and the improved trigger "feel" makes it money well spent. Also, pay a gunsmith to put it in. It is a 3 handed job for the average guy to put in. Lots of little parts.. Also, will not fit some of the newer A1 (if i recall right)pistols. Read the fine print to be sure it will fit your pistol..
Not the best wolff spring product(30.12.2014)
I have used many wolff spring products over the years, and have almost always been very pleased with the results. Not this time, this is the worst wolff product that I have ever seen. Poorly made and cheaply designed. For installation, if you have the poly trigger you must modify it for this spring kit. Thankfully I was changing the one I was working on to a steel trigger, drop in fit. Had already done some polishing, and work on the trigger pull, was at 4.5 lbs before installing the reduced power spring kit. After the installation of the spring kit, the pull was at 4.25 lbs, not worth the effort or feel of the new trigger pull. Also after pulling the trigger, if you let off the trigger slowly, the trigger hangs and does not return to forward set position. You have to manually push the trigger forward to reset it to make it ready to fire.
Truly drop in! Pair with Wilson Trigger(22.04.2015)
Easy to install if you have an understanding of how to take apart your Beretta. I installed it in conjunction with the Wilson Combat short reach steel trigger. Took all of about 15 minutes. Overall reduced trigger pull and makes an already great gun even better.
Nice conversion(18.03.2016)
This was a exact fit drop in part. For those that are leaving reviews that they had to modify the factory trigger are not reading the specs. It plainly states that it will not work with a late model polymer trigger. I had a Beretta factory steel replacement and it dropped right in.
With a D spring replacement it made a nice difference. I would recommend a small drop of gun oil on the shaft and spring. It helps with the spring friction.
Easy, reliable and worthwhile upgrade(10.05.2017)
As long as you have a metal trigger and not the polymer (easy to buy one and a nice upgrade in its own right), this is a great upgrade. Still working great after 10,000 rounds. Easy to drop in.
Too wide to work smoothly(26.07.2017)
Maybe mine was defective, but it was too wide to fit in the "fingers" of the trigger. I bought it in conjunction with the short reach trigger. It needed to be filed on both sides to fit (I tried it on the factory trigger with the same result...too wide). I looked online and found that others have had the same experience. It's not "drop in" if it needs alterations.
Peace of mind(29.01.2010)
I've been using the trigger spring unit for about 8 years now, and it's been utterly reliable. Trigger resets every time, as long as I remember to let it. Installed easily, and the coil spring gives me peace of mind. This won't lighten your trigger pull, or give you super fast resets. Don't get this if you're trying to do a cheap trigger job, because that's not what it's meant for.
Great Product(04.05.2011)
Great product. Superior to the standard Beretta 92 trigger spring.
It Works(22.06.2011)
My factory trigger spring broke. It was the damndest thing. That is why I'm here today.
This product definitely works for what it is for. Easy install. Hardest part is reinstalling the slide-stop spring, but that has nothing to do with this product.
The ONLY thing that seems odd (after installing this product) is when you slowly let off on the trigger there is some sponge and perhaps some resistance. It feels as though the trigger does not want to extend fully out with force. This does NOT seem to interfere with the function of the weapon or trigger at all and with use you shouldn't even notice it. This spring will never break!
I cannot tell if this unit improved the trigger feel or not. To sum it up ... it works fine and is a great trigger spring upgrade. ONLY drawback is the spring resistance when the trigger returns back into position.
WELL WORTH THE MONEY(21.08.2012)
I'M NO EXPERT BUT AFTER I BROKE MY FIRST TRIGGER SPRING WHICH RENDERED MY BERETTA 92FS USELESS FOR THE REST OF THE DAY I STARTED LOOKING FOR SOMETHING BETTER/MORE RELIABLE. THIS IS DEFINATELY THE RIGHT REPLACEMENT FOR THE TRIGGER SPRING. IT DROPPED RIGHT IN WITH NO MODIFICATIONS, HOWEVER I DID COAT IT WITH SYLICONE GREASE ON THE INSIDE. ITEM IS WELL MADE AND IS AN IMPROVEMENT IN FEEL OF THE GUN, WHILE FIRING. I CAN'T IMAGINE BEING IN A FIREFIGHT AND HAVING THAT SPRING BREAK. THIS ITEM SHOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR FREE TO ANYONE IN THE SERVICE WHO WANTS ONE. IT WOULD DEFINATELY SAVE LIVES.
No need to worry about the old spring!(22.01.2013)
THe original trigger spring always worried me as a weak point to the amazing Beretta 92 series of guns... Well... Not anymore!
Took all of 5 minutes to install this and the new metal trigger I ordered here for my M9A1. It functions flawlessly, stays in place, even after 100 rounds of 9mm +p... Combined this with the metal trigger and D-spring, it feels like a whole new gun and custom trigger job. Very smooth operation, just dont forget the initial drop of lube or it may feel a little spongy at first.
Test before carry!(01.11.2014)
I installed this in a recent M92A1 purchase. As a poster from IN above said- spongy. I am VERY happy I did not get the alleged competition only trigger spring! I fear that would be numb and spongy. At least this one is spongy with some feel. Certainly not as crisp as factory. The only reason I went to this was because i purchased the Wilson Combat trigger. This is an alright trigger feel, but it certainly does not replace a trigger job.
Mush & grit(04.05.2015)
Easy to install.my 92FS Inox had a polymer trigger . I installed a Wilson Combat short reach trigger and it worked great. I then installed the factory std. power spring.it worked on single action only and felt a little gritty , mushy and wouldn't pull far enough to release hammer in double action . Wolf states it won't work with polymer trigger .I thought it might work with a steel short reach , my bad . gave it 2 stars because of mush and grit.
Won't fit pistols with PLASTIC trigger!(09.05.2015)
Have used these before, work great! Love them. After ordering 2 for two new pistols, found out they don't work on poly triggers! Would be nice if it was stated somewhere on the web sight.
Great Upgrade!(31.08.2016)
Wolf Gun Springs have a Stellar reputation and their Beretta 92/96 Trigger Conversion Unit is no exception. The Beretta Mousetrap trigger spring has been known to fail and the Wolf Conversion Unit is just what Beretta 92 operators need to correct this issue! Just a heads up this Spring is made for the Beretta Steel trigger and not the polymer stock trigger. You can attempt to file the polymer trigger but it's a lot simpler to use the Beretta Steel Trigger or the Wilson Combat Short Reach Trigger. I' am a former Police Dept Armorer so installation was easy. In some cases there may be some minor fitting required. In combination with a D Hammer Spring the Wolf trigger spring brought the double action pull down to approx 6 3/4 lbs and single action pull to about 4 1/2 lbs.
Big upgrade, leaves a little play.(27.05.2017)
Great product, much better than the factory mousetrap spring. Could be .5-1mm longer to reduce play in the trigger and the fact that the spring sometimes flips up when the gun is disassembled and you manipulate the hammer for whatever reason.
Return weak(05.08.2018)
I put this in fearing stock spring would break. It seems to work but seems really weak on reset. It doesnât reset 100% of the time when slide is removed but reset fine when assembled and while shooting. Its weird but works I guess. I prefer feel of the stock spring but I use this reluctantly.
