Eliminates The "Lost Parts" Hassle When Working On Rifle Bolts
Versatile fixture lets you remove plunger-style ejectors from standard .700" and .510" diameter bolts quickly and safely without launching parts across the room. Works for a variety of popular rifles, including AR-15, AR-style .308 rifles, Remington 700, Winchester 70, Savage, and Sako. Rugged, lightweight body machined from 6061 billet aluminum securely holds bolt while threaded, tool steel shank compresses and captures ejector spring and aligns the roll pin for easy removal with a punch. Gradually loosen the shank to relieve spring tension.
SPECS: Anodized 6061 aluminum body, dark green, steel shank. 3-13⁄16" (9.7cm) long with shank fully screwed in, 2¼" (5.7cm) wide, 1¾" (4.5cm) high. Fits AR-15, AR-style .308 rifles, Remington 700, Winchester 70, Savage, and Sako rifles.

Saves time looking for springs(30.03.2011)
Saves time and energy looking for lost spring.Give's that needed third hand in diassembly
Does the job(13.06.2011)
Well made, but I found others that are more versatile than this shortly after ordering it.
Good Idea Gone Bad(21.02.2012)
I ordered this when I ordered the FailZero EXO coated AR-15 bolt & carrier as I wanted to verify the head space. The FailZero extractor retaining ping was staked on one side in the bolt body. Alas, the pin was not going to line up with the hole designed to allow the pin to be captured while driven from the bolt body.
Good tool to have...(19.07.2012)
Currently I have used this tool on 2.5 ar-15 builds. I say 2.5 because one was just a rebarrel. It handily does the job it was designed for but it is only built for that one task and for that it is a bit pricey (which is why the 4 stars) but if your going to be doing a lot of ar-15/10 builds or other rifle bolt work it is a good thing to have in the shop.
Glad I bought it(03.10.2014)
I am very happy with this tool. Makes it easy to install and remove ejector. You should always remove the ejector when checking headspace and this tool makes the job go faster. If you do this a lot the price will not be an issue.
Works OK, had some alignment problems(24.06.2015)
Got this to remove the ejector from an AR15 bolt. The forcing screw kept slipping off of the end of the ejector pin, especially on the JP Enhanced bolt. I was able to finagle it eventually. Not sure if maybe a hole was mis-aligned. I will try cutting down a spent cartridge case and putting it on the end of the forcing screw. Otherwise, it got the job done after some frustration.
Couldn't put together(31.03.2016)
When I received this tool I tried to put the tool together but the threads weren't correct. I returned it to the Brownells store for another and that one was still defective. One of the guntecs said he preferred a Sinclair product but couldn't find it in the catalog. If the threads would be cut correct I think this would be a good product for AR15 and lr308.
Works great(06.05.2016)
I have a brand new DPMS style (AR10) 308 bolt that has a very stiff ejector. Without a tool I wasn't able to remove the roll pin. I guess you could jury rig something with a cut off case...
Additionally, removing the ejector is highly recommended when measuring headspace.
The tool is brilliant in its simplicity. It is essentially a mini vise that has 2 different cutouts for 5.56/223 and 7.62/308 bolts. You put the bolt into the cutout and start screwing the piston in that will apply pressure to the ejector so you can punch out the ejector pin. There are little holes underneath so that the pin can drop freely.
To swap from 5.56 to 308 you just have to unscrew one bolt with an Allen wrench and move the piston part from the smaller cutout to the larger and put a little supplied tip onto the piston to make its surface a little bigger.
I think this tool is a necessity for everyone owning a DI semi auto rifle.
Used it already on both calibers and it works great.
Quality Control lack of...(03.06.2016)
Good idea...but lacks quality control. Unit does not seem to have any quality control performed or some would call Final inspections of the device after it is plated/Coated/Anodized.
Unit will not screw together due to coatings on threads.
Not recommended unless you by chance get a good one.
I can't recommend this product(03.06.2016)
I bought this Ejector Removal Tool as an aid in the removal of my ejector pins in two of the calibers I own, however the design is sound and in good design...the Brownell's Ejector Removal Tool seems to be manufactured and then sent for coating. I do not believe there is any final inspection of this device or units like mine would not be sent out to customers. It is very clear the unit is not tested for assembly after the Anodize/Coating process. The hard anodizing on the internal threads and the handle forced me to chase all internal and external thread surfaces with a Tap and Die set. The Chasing of the threads removed the hard coating and allowed the unit to be assembled. (Something we as a consumer, should not have to worry about). Even the smaller ID thread that holds the bolt block on either the .308 or the 5.56 side needed to be chased on the 5.56 side to assemble it for use. (Unit came setup for the .308 caliber bolt)
After the extra work on my side, the unit is functioning and worked on both calibers of bolts. I placed a small amount of Anti-Seize agent on the internal threads to aid in storage since the coating had to be removed. I gave this unit 2 stars only because it is basically a sound design and it did become functional only after the chasing of all the threads on the device. They really need to look at the existing units in stock and weed out the defective units.
My thoughts on this tool when I located on this site was this device can save me some money compared to having 2 separate units for my rifles. (I should have not discredited the reviews I read about the Brownell's Ejector Removal tool from users with similar issues). I should have went with the YOUNG MFG - AR-15/M16 BOLT EJECTOR TOOL it would have cost me more money and had 2 tools for 1 job but it does not seem to be coated on the threads.
I will not recommend this item to others.
Great tool!(24.04.2018)
I am a professional gunsmith and have many tools. This tool is a great addition to my shop. This tool is super easy to use and easy to adjust for either AR bolt size as well as Remington 700 bolts and many others. The review that stated that this tool is difficult to use is absolutely inaccurate! If you can operate an Allen wrench and turn a screw you are good to go! I have other ejector tools and prefer this tool to the others for its versatility and robust design.
Have a 1/2" - 20 tap and die on hand(05.05.2018)
The tool is relatively easy to use once you can use it. I had to chase the tool's threads with a 1/2" - 20 tap and die to remove some of the coating. This is completely unacceptable especially since other reviewers had the same complaint. I would have rated it 4 or 5 stars and recommend it to a friend if there was sufficient product quality control allowing the tool to work as advertised out of the box. At least I can more easily check the head space of AR-15 and AR-10-style rifles now.
