Good as a spare but makes action rougher(23.05.2014)
Installed on a fairly new Guide Gun. I have put in a few hours into slicking up the action, deburring, etc., with good result prior to installation of the bear-proof ejector. The spring on this ejector is significantly stronger than OEM (as expected). I was not anticipating the impact on overall action smoothness. I will remove it and use as a spare.
Works perfectly (24.08.2014)
I installed the bear proof ejector on my new 1895 Marlin SBL and couldn't be more happy with it! It was very simple to install and did not require a gunsmith. My lever action is smooth as it was before installation. Would highly recommend for that added reliability.
Much worse then stock part (06.01.2016)
I call this a Bear "poof" ejector because if you ever had to chamber a round as defense against a charging bear that's just what would happen to your life. Poof! This ejector is almost twice as wide as the stock ejector for a 1895GS so obviously a lot of fitting is required and a stone will not do it lol. Once in place the ejection is so weak you can pretty count on a jam 50% of the time. If you just put the ejector side by side with the stock one and look at the spring excursion and check the strength it should be obvious this thing will not eject properly but like a dummy I went ahead and fit it anyway. Don't make the same mistake
Not quite as Advertized(03.02.2016)
I purchased one for my 1895 SBL it did not fit out of the box it took some modification (Grinding/Sanding) in order to get it to function with the bolt slide. In addition it does not provide the same spring to the shell ejection and if you fail to give the cycle a good effort you good end having a jam.
WWG Bear Proof Ejector(24.01.2010)
Easy installation in my Marlin 1895M 450M. Solid once piece unit. Really kicks the empty shells out now. Loaded rounds eject easily also.
Not even close to drop in...(28.06.2011)
Bought one for my Guide gun. The piece that hooks into the side of the receiver extended beyond the receiver itself, requiring extensive filing before it fit flush. Of course, this also required re-blueing before the job was finished.
Other than that, the ejector was well built and looks pretty stout. Throws the shells out pretty well also.
Well made but , for newer guns.(21.02.2012)
Well made ,but on older 336 marlins (mine is a Mid 80's Gun) requires extensive fitting and would require a reblue of the part where it protudes through the frame.
Not a drop in fit(02.06.2012)
This was not a drop-in fit in my 1895. It drops in but the bolt won't close. Like it says, gunsmith fitting recommended. I'd buy two factory parts rather than this.
Heavy duty Marlin ejector(13.09.2012)
Fitted to a 444 SS Marlin (model with micro-groove bore and cross bolt safe). This was a perfect fit in my rifle. No gunsmithing required and has so far worked perfectly. Ejects empties or loaded rounds positively. I've never had a problem with original Marlin ejector either but it got lost and it was cheaper to buy this after-market part from Brownells than an original one here in OZ.
Product is all I hoped it would be.(26.03.2013)
I had second thoughts about ordering this ejector after reading other reviews but I am very happy with this ejector. I installed it in just a couple minutes with absolutely no fitting or alteration required. My 1895G was built in 2006 and it seems that the folks having fitting problems have older rifles. This part ejects cases perfectly. I had no problems with the factory ejector but as the Wild West ejector is a bit heavier and I mix in the occasional heavy loads, I just wanted the extra advantage that the "bear proof" ejector might afford me.
Not for the Marlin 1894.(29.04.2013)
I tried one of these ejectors in my Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited (.357). I found that the rifle failed to eject either dummy cartridges, or spent shell cases. The same ejector worked with perfect reliability when fitted to the 336.
Fitting required!!(05.08.2013)
Well made, but it required alot of hand fitting for my 1894 before I could get the bolt to close.
Fitting required to get it right.(26.02.2014)
I installed this ejector in an older Marlin 1895. I first just dropped it in for a function test to see if fitting was needed. This part completely fills the machined slot in the receiver unlike the loose fit factory one and did eject both fired and loaded test rounds however the bolt dragged on it when opened and closed. I removed the ejector and used a Spyderco ceramic stone to smooth up all areas that made contact with the bolt. Cleaned, oiled, installed and retested the WWG ejector. Now everything works very smooth and I am very pleased with the results.
It Broke on installation(12.08.2015)
This product looked good and I was going to install it on a customer's 1894 cowboy rifle. It took quite a bit of fitting to get the bolt to close and after 3-4 tries the spring broke off the back.
I called Brownells customer service and they are sending a replacement. I am willing to let this go as being a one time bad part but for this experience I am rating it one star.
