great quality poorly designed(28.10.2010)
great warrantie, good folks to deal with, but this priming tool is the worst design of them all.
PLASTIC COVER OVER PRIMERS GETS LOSE(12.11.2010)
PLASTIC COVER OVER PRIMERS GETS LOSE OVER TIME ,I NEED TO CONTACT RCBS FOR REPLACEMENT .THIS IS A GREAT COMPANY FOR STANDING BEHIND THERE PRODUCTS .
Good tool(09.02.2011)
I've been using this tool for a few years now. I like it a lot. I can fill the disc up with primers, grab a bucket of brass, and an empty bucket. Plop down in the recliner in front of the TV and prime cases all night. Only drawback is that when it was new, I had to keep an eye on my small insert. It had a lip, or burr or something in it that tried to flip the primers over when you went too fast. After a few uses it started working fine though.
Quality tool(07.06.2011)
I have used this for thousands of rounds, and have had very little go wrong with it. It is very robust in build and easy to manipulate. There are only two things with it that I don't like. If you press too hard or too lightly, it will change the seating depth of the primer. Second, is that I had to do a little bit of shaving on both the large and small shell holders to enable the primer seating post to freely pass through the tool. All other things run smoothly.
Great tool(27.02.2012)
This is a "feel" tool. You don't clamp down like its a vise grip.... You play with it a bit and once you learn the "feel" of a properly seated primer....you'll have it down forever.
Not dependable at all(27.03.2012)
This is not a good design at all. It allows the primers to flip over and is a pain to take apart and remove distorted primers. I would not recommend this to a friend.
Best I have used(21.05.2012)
I've loaded thoudands of rounds over the past 10 years using this tool and never had an issue. As others have said this is a finesse tool. You have to use it enough to know when you have properly seated a primer. This tool uses the same shell holders as the press shell holder used to size and seat bullets. At least one of the other tools requires a set of shell holders different from the reloading press.
Very dissapointing...(17.11.2016)
Poor design. Right out of the box the primer rod was binding against the feed for the primer tray. Also, the primers can and do get disoriented in the seating tube which led to distorted primers. This never happened in 30 years of using the lil ol Lee which is the cheapest on the market. I know the obvious question you would be asking me right now and the answer is: I have no idea why.
Shame on RCBS
Solid product(17.02.2017)
I wanted a hand priming tool to prime 338 Lapua Magnum cases. The RCBS universal wouldn't work, my old Lee hand primers wouldn't work, both same trouble the body of the case wouldn't clear the body of the priming unit. This works great. I have had no trouble with primers flipping or orienting sideways, using the same techniques I used with my Lee units. Seating is positive and leverage is adequate. Not quite as definite a "feel" when the primer is fully seated, but works just fine. About the only downside I can see is that to change shell holders you have to disassemble the unit. Not a big deal as it is simple and only takes a minute or two.
