original Remington extractor was crap - 4 out of 10 were not extracted. Installed the Volquartsen, extractor problems solved, granted. BUT: introduced failures to fire with every secound round! reason:after installing extractor my R597's bolt did not close properly any more. So some part of the hammer's energy get's absorbed to close the bolt instead of a clean hit of the firing pin.
Luckily i had the extractor by Brownells own brand at hand - which worked as expected.

After becoming very frustrated with my 597 failing to completely extract cartridges and stove piping all the time I turned to the Internet for some guidance. I kept reading about people replacing the factory extractor with this Volquartsen and claiming that the issue was completely solved. I took a chance on it myself and was not disappointed. 300 rounds at the range from four different manufacturers and zero failures to extract.
Replacing the extractor wasnât too bad but did require some simple tools and a little patience. Plenty of videos out there to explain the process if your hesitant about taking on the job.
I highly recommend this product if youâve been experiencing similar problems.
