AWESOME TRIGGER(08.08.2009)
[...] This trigger is going into a FN PBR-XP and will be relacing a Rifle Basix trigger. Installation was fairly easy, but very time comsuming with the aid of a dremel tool and assortment of files. Modifacation will be necessary to the stock and floor plate. This gun and trigger will be mainly used for benchrest shooting only. Once installed and adjusted to about 9oz (not confirmed, trigger scale did not come in yet) the trigger was very crisp and broke like glass. The trigger pull weight seems to be very constant. After installation, I proceeded to drop and bounce the unloaded rifle on the ground to make the rifle discharge. Even at 9oz the gun did not discharge. WOW!!! The only thing that I found on the negative side is that the safety was a little stiff to activate. This may be due to the fact that the rifle is fairly new and the safety switch/lever needs to be broken in. The Jewell trigger did live up to its awesome reputation, workmanship was top notch. Well worth the money, and it is night over day compared to the Rifle Basix. The gun consistantly shoots sub MOA and will only become better with the Jewell. Don't waste your money on anything else; I highly recommend one and happy shooting.
Best trigger I've ever had(29.12.2011)
Pre '64 model 70 Winchester action. I Was able to get it, safely down to 3 1/2 oz. pull and it doesn't bump fire. Impressive. I tell my friends that.. all I have to do is get on target and "think" about pulling the trigger and it goes off. This is obviously set up for bench rest type shooting. It's easily adjusted up if needed. Precision, crisp, this baby is nice.
Installation was a breeze just had to file out some of the wood in the stock, it does take a little technique to get it the trigger guard, but with a little trial and error you will figure out the proper angle and technique.
First Rate!!!(26.08.2010)
I had always been told they were good, what an understatement. Reliable, safe and a crisp pull that breaks like glass. I'll never shoot factory again. Installed it myself...straightforwrd took me and a buddy about 20 min and we were shooting. Cleans up with a squirt of lighter fluid.
Jewell Trigger, Re. 700(18.08.2009)
Follow the instrutcions for setting the trigger up, and you end up with a nice 16 oz. pull, and the crispest trigger I have ever pulled... This is just what I was after.. Thank You
Three range adjustable(09.10.2009)
Trigger is easy to install and includes a safety so transfer of factory parts is not required. The trigger comes with three springs that determine mechanical adjustment range. Adjustments from 1.5 oz to 48 oz are all possible. I set mine to 48 oz for hunting. Pull, sear engagement and overtravel adjustment really made for a great feel. Nylon inserts eliminate the need for use of thread locking solutions. Adjustments stay put.
fine piece of crafts manship(04.12.2009)
i purchased the jewell trigger to improve the accuracy of my rem 700, and boy did it work! the installation was very easy just make sure you pay attention to the bolt release spring when you remove the factory trigger, although very easy to figure out. trigger comes with two extra springs for trigger pull weight though i dont think they will ever be needed due to the range of the already assembled sring thats 1/2 lb to 3 lbs in weight. the only complaint i have is that the bolt seems to be just a little bit sloppy after the action is fire and the bolt release sticks a little. other than those two minor problems (not really a problem in my book) it is the best trigger i have ever had the pleasure of squeezing!
Does not work with AICS stock(28.12.2009)
Nice trigger, will not work with AICS stock. The safety will not operate. You could probably mill out some clearance in the stock- I decided to return the trigger.
Simply Outstanding!(26.01.2010)
I received my trigger with few instructions to install, but in all honesty, it was a very simple procedure. (I am no gunsmith.) From taking apart my stock rifle to completion took me about 30 minutes. The trigger unit is solid and appears to have no cheap aluminum or sheet metal pieces. It droped in perfectly, the safety and bolt release lined up the way they are supposed to and I was ready to go. From the factory the package said the trigger was set to 1 lb. Five trials with with an electronic tester revealed an average of 15.8 ounces. Yeah, I guess that close enough. This trigger has the cleanest break I have ever felt. I will be definitely be buying more of these.
Easy install, easy adjust, great trigger(19.02.2010)
I installed this trigger on a Rem 700 LA in an AICS stock. The stock had to be altered for clearance of the safety to allow proper operation, but this is no fault of Jewells. This is the best trigger I have used, and each of my Remingtons have one now. The higher quality and installed safety and bolt release make this trigger worth the money, every time.
This trigger is Second to NONE!(31.07.2010)
This is the trigger I first used on a custom Remington 700 Stainless .25-06 rebarrled with a top of the line barrel from H-S Precision. In 1993 I took this rifle to Texas then went on to put down a great many prairie dogs at ranges over 1000 yards. Without this Jewell trigger, and the range of adjustment if has as part of the shooting equation, I KNOW I could not have done the accuracy of shooting that I was able to do at the ranges over 400 yards and out past 1000 yards, in a gentle Texas breese! Since then, I have added Jewell triggers to all of my working rifles and will continue to do so in the future. Totally adjusttable with that "Breaking Glass Rod" feel when you release the sear and the adjustments are not only accurate but they hold where you set them too. Quality heat treated 440C steel throughout, tolerances that are TIGHT, cleaning is a breeze, and with a warranty that is second to none too! This is the only trigger I use whenever possible! Yes, there are other triggers, some more expensive and many cheaper brands, and I have tried most of them, but as a professional gunsmith I personally will not use anything else nor will I recommend anything else to my clients. While these triggers are not for everyone, they are also not for every rifle either. But for that Remington owner that is a prefectionist, there is none better. At least in my humble opinion. I own several and will be buying more, and other Jewell models, when I start building my custom AR-15's. Once you try one, get to know it, "play" with it, and get it set "just the way YOU want it", you too will be spoiled and like me, will not want anything else! You can easily do worse, but I doubt you could do better, especially for the price! Hope this helps my fellow shooters. Cordially, Coyote338 [[[[[End of Msg]]]]]
Awsome-700CDL may require inletting(14.09.2010)
I purchased a Jewell R HVR 700 Trigger for my Remington Model 700 CDL Limited Edition in .260 Remington. After reading reviews all over the internet, I was a little worried that the trigger would not just "drop in"; and I was correct. I did exactly as the instructions called for and when I tightened everything up; the safety lever was rubbing the wood on the inside of the stock (at a few points) and would not function properly. I had to use a small wood chisel-file and a Dremel tool to modify the inside of the stock so that the safety lever would not rub and would function properly. It wasn't really all that difficult, but if I didn't happen to have the Dremel and a small wood chisel-file, I would have had to go buy something. Besides inletting the stock a little, installation amounted to removing and replacing two pins and was really simple.
I tested the trigger (with the spring installed at the factory) with an RCBS trigger scale and it consistently broke at 16 oz every time (just as advertized). I must say this is the finest trigger I have ever felt and it spoiled me. I have two Coopers and an H-S Precision rifle with nice 2.5 pound triggers that I was very happy with until I used this Jewell. The trigger really helped me tighten up groups; as I didn't really have to squeeze the trigger. You line up your target, rest you finger on the trigger and as soon as you start any movement, the rifle comes to life.
WOW...Just the best!!!(29.02.2012)
I put mine on a Rem 700 SS Mil_Spec 5R special with a McMillan stock and it is simply the best I have experienced or could imagine, it seems lighter than my SSG Dbl Set trigger, and with a cleaner break, I didn't think that was possible. It dropped right in without any modifications, I wanted to try a Timney but now I'm afraid of being dissapointed. This has been a most satisfying purchase, I'm going to order one for my hunting rifle now, well, whenever they come back in stock that is....
great trigger system(09.03.2012)
Does require some stock and trigger guard fitting! I recommend that you take it to a gunsmith for proper and safe fitting! Absolutely a great accessory to your 700! Kevin C. Raymond, Gunsmith Duncan's Outdoor Shop Inc. Bay City, MI
Jewell HVR 700 - great trigger system(07.09.2012)
I recently purchased the HVR trigger for my Rem 700. The receiver is in an Cell & Carlson stock. The trigger system was very easy to switch. Take great care when driving out the pins and move them only as directed and not completely out. The modern B & C stock did not require any modification.
WOW! It made an immediate difference in the operation of the rifle and groups tightened up significantly! If you are new to such a light trigger, I suggest you tightening up from the 1# that it arrived as and slowly back down the weight as you become accustomed to the lighter trigger.
REQUIRED FITTING - Bolt release problem (01.05.2016)
Donât get me wrong, this trigger is fantastic! When you get it to fit.... I am currently building a Remington 700, and for this project, I bought a brand new stainless steel SA Remington 700 receiver. When this trigger the (HVR model) arrived, I promptly took off the X MARK pro trigger that came with the action, and when I was attempting to install the Trigger, I noticed that the bolt release metal on the trigger was interfering with the installation. I made sure the it was at its lowest position, installed the front pin first, and made 110 percent sure that the holes to the rear trigger lined up with the holes on the action but when I would try to install the trigger, the trigger will fit but the bolt release would be contacting the receiver making it impossible to install the bolt release. I stopped at this moment, digested the information without getting frustrated. After minutes of thinking, I got to compare the bolt release lengths of the X markPro trigger and the Jewell. I noticed that the geometry of the contacting surface of the two triggers were greatly different. I then calculated how much I needed to shave off and alter the geometry of the bolt release. I got to disassembling the trigger, filing and ever so slightly bending the bolt release metal on the trigger to make everything work, making sure to reinstall and check the contacting surface every so often. After about 4 hours of patiently filing, the bolt release was finally functional! I think the problem was during the manufacturing process, the starting bend angle of the bolt release metal on the trigger started a little too late, and thus causing the contacting issue. I hope no one has to go through this trouble so if anyone else has this problem I would probably recommend you to return the product and see if the newer one will fit better.
--PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES--
--NOTICE HOW THE BOLT RELEASE METAL IS AT IT'S LOWEST POTION BUT IT IS CONTACTING THE RECEIVER--
I installed this myself without any need of fitting. I have it in my remington vls with hs precision stock with other goodies added. I have it set at 10.8oz. I lube it occasionaly with lighter fluid as they recomend. Some thick oil happended to seep into it once & it did t work correctly. I cleaned it then used lighter fluid then it all went to work. The safety works like one should even at these light settings. I like a safety on my bench rifle. Its a bit steep of price but it performs exactly like i was hopeing. Now after 18 or so years of use its still going strong. Ive only fed my rifle with my hand loads & approximatly 1200 to 1500 rounds in those many years its never needed readjustment of any kind. It really helps my benchrest shooting. Groups that are only as large as the bullet itself. From 3 shots to however many you'd like. The trigger is a real 21 jewell. (Just an old saying for old pocket watches) keep up the great work Jewell!
Excellent Replacement Trigger(17.11.2017)
This trigger appears to be a robust design. Components are of stainless steel. As a replacement for the trigger in a Remington 700, it is very hard to find any trigger that is better. Factory set at 16 oz., the trigger breaks cleanly. One issue is that the bottom metal of the firearm may need some fitting to clear the bolt release on the trigger. Be careful fitting this portion, and the installation will be fine. Another excellent product supplied by Brownells.
This trigger will ruin you.(19.03.2018)
This trigger will ruin you. After you get used to shooting a jewell, every other trigger on the face of the earth will not compare. Clean break, no over travel, no pre travel, nothing! Just a clean break. I saw a more than 50% reduction in my groups just by installing this trigger.
