Love it(14.04.2011)
Simple construction and à deligth to USD. You really feel THE resizing and you feel THE bullet seating. You have great control. Tibet er with sinclair dies it is the perfect way to make good quality rounds.
Dissatisfied(31.10.2012)
I took this out of the box and read the directions and proceeded to use it with my Wilson dies. When I attempted to decap the third case the machine locked and spit out gear teeth. I did a searc hand found that others on firearm forums have had the same problem.
Needless to say I am returning this tomorrow and replacing with a different item
The plus to ll of this is that Sinclair has an awesome return policy. Mr. Porterfield, your customer service is great, and I will continue to be a customer!
Avoid(07.01.2013)
I would not recommend this press for anything other than seating bullets . Twice now the press has spit out teeth while neck sizing . Every time it breaks it must be shipped back for repairs . After the latest break it is going in the trash .
Poor Construction(01.03.2013)
It works ok on soft once fired brass. The main problem is the press rod keeps jumping out of the gear mechanism. Certainly don't use on new Lapua brass. Use with bullet seaters only, no neck sizing. Next generation needs a better more durable great mechanism. I purchased one of the competing brands after this one broke and I am very satisfied.
Sinclair Arbor Press(15.04.2013)
It's OK for very soft brass.I dared to use it on lapua, well you guessed it,snapped!!They asked me to send the head back.I live in Australia can you imagine the costs?I can't see why Sinclair sold such a bad engineered product. What happened to quality control?I know they are happy to help, but this is not the issue.
Poor quality(31.12.2013)
Fell to bits after about 3 months use. I was using it with LeWilson neck dies so not heavy use. I contacted Sinclair who promised a replacement. I am still waiting for the replacement. Do not buy this press.
Good mini arbor press(23.04.2014)
The press parts themselves are pretty sturdy and heavy. The only thing that is metiocre is the gear backlash. It doesn't hurt most press operations, really. I'm not sure what the max force it can sustain but after talking to a very nice guy on their chat service it was around 75 lbs of press force. It is accurately depicted to NOT be for full length sizing, but the compact size is perfect for my applications.
Truly Amazing(31.05.2014)
If you enjoy BR shooting and you need to make a load really fast and accurate I would choose this one right a way. Constructed very well easy to opperate and it is more fun to reload with this Arbor press than the conventional single or turret stage press.
Precision Instrument(24.02.2015)
This is a great little press. I use it for reloading .223 REM ammo and will shortly start reloading 243 WIN with this press.
I like this press because everything is really square, level and true. The rack-and-pinion is more than sturdy enough to handle neck-sizing and bullet seating operations in .223 REM. I have no doubt it can do likewise with larger calibers...at least up to 30 cal cartridges. The action is smooth and consistent throughout the ram travel and the press comes well-lubricated and ready to go.
As for the negative reviews, I'm not seeing the same problems. But I will add that it is cruicial to do a few things to ensure that this press does the job without being damaged.
First, you MUST get the correct neck bushings for your brass! If you try to size a cartridge neck down too far, you will experience significant friction and could damage your tools. I addressed this by following the instructions on the L.E. Wilson website for choosing a neck bushing, then got a couple bushings larger and one smaller. You only need to get the case neck .002" or so smaller than the bullet to get a really firm grip.
Second, you MUST use are really good sizing lube! The best thing you can use is Imperial Sizing Wax. Conventional case lubes won't work as well and you might see friction problems with a conventional case lube.
If everything is clicking, you do not need much force at all to reload with this press. Just take your time and double check your work and you'll do just fine!
