Excellent, but - (05.06.2011)

I received my mount from Brownells [...] and couldn't wait to put it on my 870 for a Fenix TK 12. The good news is that is an extremely well-made mount and it most assuredly doubles as a brace for the extended magazine. The only bad news and why I didn't give it 5 stars is that if you are going to install it alone, that's a good thing because you're likely to turn the air in the vicinity blue trying to get the thing on your shotgun because the screws are just a wee bit too short without squeezing the mount around the barrel/magazine. Yes, the little nuts will fall out and roll under something. I finally managed to get the screws to gain purchase by clamping a vise grip on the mount.A minor cavil, perhaps, but that little bit of extra length on the screws would have made installing this excellent mount a lot easier.

Bought this mount for a Remington 870 and it went on easily. Going to order 2 more for our department. Exactly what I was looking for.

Do NOT buy this product for a 20 guage (27.07.2012)

The mount is designed for a 12. For a 20 gauge it comes with adapters, which are really spacers. The adapters have ribs that must be "clipped" off to fit a 20 gauge. The smallest of clippers will not fit into the slots. Using a very thin file I began to remove the ribs (a total of 40 cuts). The plastic fatigues as the cuts are made, which resulted in the adapter breaking. I bought another set of adapters and consulted the manufacturer on the best way to remove the ribs, especially the end ribs which are the most difficult to remove. Using the recommended screwdriver method the plastic only fatigued more quickly and broke again. The mount now sits in the pile of items that I wish I had spent more money on a higher quality product. Although, it might be just fine on a 12 gauge.

Updating prior review (07.09.2012)

There are few products made for the 20ga 870, which is what drove me to revisit this product. Elzetta was kind enough to send me another insert free of charge. The answer to making it fit is a Dremel. It only takes about 20 minutes to get a good fit. After this I am happy with the product. If hand fitting wasn't required I would have given it 5 stars. For the price it's a good value. Wear safety glasses when working with the Dremel, lots of hot plastic will be flying.

Outstanding mount (14.01.2015)

Mounted onto a 12ga Benelli M1 Super 90. It's as close to perfect as I could ask for. I'm really happy with it.
