The second generation Brownells 1911 magazines combine heavy duty construction with the reliability you've come to expect from a century old service weapon. The body and follower are constructed from heat treated stainless steel, with witness holes for a fast round count. Xylan~ exterior coating provides corrosion protection, as well as a slick, friction reducing finish. The anti-tilt follower is mated with an extra-power spring. The removable polymer base pad allows easy disassembly, as well as drop protection when changing magazines on the fly.

Immediately ordered these when I saw them - I've had great service from Brownell's .45 magazine. The 9mm magazines are very high quality and they function perfectly in my STI Lawman 4.0. Performance every bit as good as other magazines costing much more. If you're running a 1911 in 9mm, get some of these magazines - you'll be glad you did!
Has potential, but...(12.04.2016)
I have had been mostly pleased with the Brownell's .45 magazines (but still like Wilson ETMs better), so I decided to try one of these:
On the 'plus' side, the rounds load into the mag easily, I can easily lock a fully loaded mag into my gun (Dan Wesson PM-9) with the slide closed, the mag drops free, and activates the slide lock when empty. I have not tested it with live rounds yet, but feeds dummy rounds perfect.
But, on the very negative side is the problems I have with the "removable base". I found the one on mine to be very close to non-removable. With the center piece depressed, I could not even budge the plate off by hand. The only way I got it off was by using a vise, large punch, and a rubber mallet (and some blood from skinned knuckles and a fair amount of 'colorful language'). Once I had it off, I could see the ridges inside the base that are supposed to fit into the slots at the bottom of the magazine were not close to lining up. This is not something easily fixed by trimming due to the construction of the base. Since the ridges do not fit into the slots, I also wonder if the base will fly down off the bottom under the spring pressure of a loaded magazine .
While I don't know if all the magazines have the poor fit of mine (none of the Brownell's .45 magazines I have are like this), the only way I could recommend this magazine is if you are one that never takes magazines apart for cleaning (I take mine apart before the first use to remove the excess wet oil often found inside).
excellent value(16.10.2016)
These mags are superb. I have shot the Springfield Armory 9mm mags and the CMC 9mm mags, and had issues with both. These mags have been reliable and are an excellent value, particularly when they are on sale.
Almost perfect(25.10.2016)
Bought one for my 9mm single stack competition gun. Looked great out of the package, nice finish, easy to load. It has a bend in the front for some reason (maybe to act as a feedramp?) that catches the frame and won't let it drop free unless you hold the pistol at just the right angle. It's intentional and not a defect as you can see it in the photos. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for that. Not sure I will buy more. It functioned flawless in feeding ammo.
Good range mags(27.11.2016)
These are flawless in my ruger 1911 9mm light weight commander. Feed great and drop free. Slide always locks back after last round is fired. They do stick out the bottom of the gun a bit but have I nice polymer base pad. They are 100% reliable. A great addition to the range bag.
WON'T DROP FREE(07.12.2016)
I BOUGHT TWO OF THESE MAGS FOR A KIMBER STAINLESS II. BOTH MAGS WOULD NOT DROP FREE WHEN THEY WERE EMPTY. THEY FELT LIKE THEY WERE DRAGGING IN THE MAG WELL. THEY WOULD NOT EVEN SHAKE LOOSE, THEY HAD TO BE PULLED OUT. I DON'T KNOW WHY, DON'T CARE. I'M SENDING THEM BACK AND I'LL TRY A DIFFERENT BRAND. I USE THIS GUN FOR COMPETITIONS AND THEY HAVE TO FULLY FUNCTION. I HAVE HAD NO SUCH ISSUES WITH THE STOCK MAG.
Not very good(28.02.2017)
I purchased four of these mags and they would not drop free from my Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commander 9mm. Ended up taking some sand paper to them to sand off some of the finish and high spots. some were worse than others. They all finally seem to be working ok now.
Works great, highly recommend(04.03.2017)
Have purchased 4 of these magazines for my Colt Competition model. They have functioned flawlessly and the coating on the outside of them helps provide smooth magazine change outs. Great value, solid performance and would highly recommend.
Great value but need modify to work(05.04.2017)
Good: Beats everything out there price wise. Ordered 6 (2x3 packs) when on sale.
Bad: Last round rarely holds open on my Norinco NP29 1911, but this might be my gun.
Ugly: None of them drop free. Had to sand off the high spot on the front before they drop free. It's not the gun this time because every other brand of mags I tried drop free in the Norinco.
For the price they are great option compare to Wilson mags that sale for $70 eahc in Canada, that is if you don't mind a bit of dremel work.
9mm 1911 Magazine, 10 Round by BROWNELLS(27.04.2017)
I picked up 6 of these magazines for my Ruger SR1911 9mm
the magazines feed just fine i would have given 5 stars if they would fall free from the magwell but they do not you have to pull them out
No Love for a Ruger SR 1911(29.04.2017)
Failure to feed every 2 to 4 rounds regardless if 115, 124, or 147gr and whether fmj or hp.
Work great but need a bit of adjustment(10.05.2017)
I purchased 6. Easy to load, but they would bind a bit in the magwell and not drop all the way out. Looking at the feed lips, I noticed there was a slight bend in each magazine compared to a factory magazine. I used long nose pliers and made a very minor adjustment to match the factory mags. They release flawlessly in several different 1911's. Initially, I was going to return them, but after that minor tweak, I am very pleased and plan to buy more.
Brownell 1911 9mm mags. I'm happy !!!(02.07.2017)
Bought a 3 pack of the Brownell 9mm 1911 mags a couple weeks back. I put 200 rounds through them with zero malfunctions. They worked great. I'd buy them again. Happy camper. Mike
Cheaper for a reasom(19.09.2017)
The price is the only good point. If shooting as a hobby, they will fine. I ordered 4 for duty use. All 4 fail to lock back after the last round, and all 4 will not drop freely. I won't even train with these due to the problems.
Rock Island 1911 9mm(06.10.2017)
I recently purchased the triple pack of these mags. They work perfectly in my RIA 1911. Very good quality, fit well, and eject easily. I could not be more pleased with them. Thanks Brownells!
No Problemo(13.02.2018)
Works 100% in my DW Valkyrie. I will buy more in the future.
Works well in RIA 1911(17.02.2018)
I bought a Rock Island Armory TAC Ultra FS Combo with both the 9mm and the 22TCM barrels. It only came with one magazine. These mags work great for the 9mm, but the 22TCM is just a bit too long to work in them. Iâve only tried one box of 22TCM though. Iâve heard they vary a bit.
Oh well. I plan on shooting the 9mm more anyway. Also, the 9mm loads much better in these mags compared to the one factory mag that appears to be made more for the 22TCM. I will be buying more of these.
Great Value(26.03.2016)
Brownells 9mm 1911 magazines are very well constructed and function flawlessly in Colt Combat Commanders, Kimber Aegis and SIG Ultra 9mm 1911 style pistols. They rival Wilson Combat in many ways. The only drawback with Brownells' are the rough spots from the stamp cuts on the magazine lips. These rough edges are easily trimmed or wear down, but have not caused any malfunctions even when left unattended. These are great mags and for the price, an excellent value.
Best 1911 9mm magazine for the money(16.04.2016)
Ordered a bunch of the 9mm mags as soon as they became available - was confident they would work based on my experience with Brownell's .45 magazines. Very happy with the quality, workmanship and function of these magazines. By far the best 9mm 1911 magazine for the money that I've seen. They have fed everything I've put through them in the STI Lawman. Great magazines.
Greate mags.(09.05.2016)
This mags. work perfectly. I have SPS Falcon in 9mm, and I had a lot of problems with other 10 rnd. mags. I'm IPSC shooter and finally I find the correct, compatible competition mags. Thank's a lot Brownells team !!!
excellent magazines(10.04.2017)
I purchased three of the 9mm brownell's 1911 magazines this spring. They run perfect in my new Colt Competition. I have put about 100 rounds per magazine and have had no issues. I noticed the magazines do protrude slightly below the bottom of the magazine well on my pistol. This is not a complaint but just an observation.
Excellent(11.07.2017)
Purchased a new American Classic Gov't II, it only comes with 1 x 9 round mag. I ordered the 3 pack holds 10 rounds each, works great. The extra round makes the mag extend about 1/4" below frame, but feel comfortable in my hands & the black blends in with the frame too. Better than the silver mag it came with. No feed issues.
Good Mags(14.11.2017)
I bought these mags for my Taurus 1911 hoping they would be better then the other after market ones I had, but they gave the same problems, not locking the slid, not dropping free, I was ready to send them back. While searching the web for some answers to my problem I ran across a post that stated " I've seen this before when the wrong slide stop is installed". BINGO. I had replaced the slide stop for an extended version and got one for a 45. I changed back to the original and now all is well. These are good magazines for the money and work well.
Good quality magazines(05.05.2018)
I purchased these magazines for my 9mm Range Officer. The magazines worked flawless. The quality is very good. I recommend this product.
