Features a friction locking mechanism that eliminates movement between the buffer tube and buttstock for a solid “feel” when mounting rifle to shoulder. Heavy duty, spring-loaded hand lever allows fast length-of-pull adjustments. Nylon polymer body provides maximum impact and heat resistance, with molded-in reinforcements at stress points. Accepts a variety of ambidextrous sling attachment options, including web slings and single-point, push-button sling mounts. Comb contour is wider than standard issue M4 stock to help shooter maintain a solid cheekweld. Synthetic rubber buttpad increases comfort and helps prevent slippage. Fits buffer tubes that accept both four- and six-position collapsible stocks. Buffer tube, carbine buffer, receiver extension nut, and carbine-length action spring not included. Available in Black. Commercial fits larger diameter 1.17" O.D. commercial buffer tubes.

Nice addition (09.12.2009)

I have a CTR stock on my patrol rifle and recently attended a week long rifle course with it. I was very happy with the stock and do not have any complaints. However, we also used an MOE stock from Magpul, and I don't feel the CTR stock is worth the extra money. As it stands, it is great. When I compare it to the MOE stock, I don't feel the addition of the "friction" piece really adds to the function.

This IS the best quality AR stock on the market and with a reasonable price. The locking part of the stock prevents ANY movement and makes the gun and shooter feel as ONE and without movement because of the adjustable stock as in the OEM stocks.......5+ on a scale of 1-5.

High Speed, Low Drag (14.01.2010)

This stock feels great, looks good, and works well on my DPMS rifle. There is still a small amount of side to side play when it is locked, but it is still better than the factory stock.

Good product and very easy to install. I love the rubber buttpad it has on it. I just need to figure out how to remove the .5" spacer and just attach the rubber to the stock itself. Otherwise like all Magpul stuff. This item is a must have for your AR-15.

If you know Magpul quality,you know is second to none.This ctr stock is no exeption.The fit is snug and precised.I installed it on my ar 15 and let me tell you it makes the gun solid from back to front.I recomend it.

Better than stock, but...... (15.05.2010)

A little disappointed in this stock. Although it does seen to remove most of the play, I found that I can still feel some play in the stock. It's much better than the stock one, but wasen't as good as I thought it would be. Perhaps I misunderstood the meaning of "Zero" movement?

I put one on my .50 Beowulf [...]. The stock is solid, with no play, and doesn't pull my beard. Heavy duty. Top notch.

A word of caution about a snug fit! (22.07.2010)

The stock fits snug and works great, once I got the correct part from Brownells. I ordered the entire lower unit kit in commercial grade only to find out in repackaging they provided a military spec. stock tube, even though it was marked as commercial. Once they replaced the Magpul commercial spec. stock with the Military spec. it worked great. If it wasn't for the complete description and specs included from MagPul with the stock, I would have assumed the sloppy fit was standard. The detailed drawings and specs provided by MagPul confirmed the problem was in the tube the Brownells sent and not the stock. It fits snug as described.

Solid stock (16.09.2010)

The commercial CTR stock offered by Magpul is a huge step up from M4 type stocks that most user are used to. The stock locks firmly in place with the help of the restrictive locking lever and there is very chance of the stock collapsing by accident once deployed and locked in place. Stock is very robust and to me seems to weight less than the "regular stocks". Installed very easily over a COMMECIAL buffer tube and gives a great look to the weapon. I've upgraded all of my AR's with this stock.

The best "plastic" stock I've come across. The telescopic movement is very slick and the stops are positive. The locking mechanism is intuitive to use. I still prefer my ACE stock for strength, rigidity, and weight (yeah, I said it!) which helps to balance the gun. If you're looking for a lightweight adjustable, this is worth the extra price.

This stock is great. Locks up tight and no wiggle whatsoever. The person stating they had play must have put a Commercial CTR on a Mil spec buffer tube. That is the only way you are going to get movement with this stock once the lever is applied.

The product is all around great product. I'm using it on my Double Star M4 style rifle. I would recommend this product and I highly recommend Brownells to everyone.

VERY tight (18.12.2017)

I have a commercial buffer tube, so I bought this commercial stock, however it barely fits. I got it on but it's so tight and difficult to adjust.

The box says commercial buttstock, so I know I didn't mistakenly order a mil spec buttstock. I even measured the hole in the Magpul buttstock compared to my original buttstock and the magpul it's clearly smaller.

Perhaps magpul or Brownell's accidentally put a mil spec in a commercial box? Oh well I guess it's time to upgrade to a mil spec buffer tube
