Slim replacement for cumbersome USGI front sight/gas block tower features a low profile for a more streamlined appearance and less chance of snagging on vegetation and other gear. Covers only 1" of barrel length and reduces weapon’s forward weight for improved handling and maneuverability. Clamp On models squeeze around the barrel with included socket head screws. Set Screw models use included set screws at the bottom of the unit to anchor the gas block to the barrel for the lowest-profile installation.

Poor Quality Set Screws(12.02.2015)
I have a VLTOR one piece upper so I thought this would be a good match. The gas block itself looks good. Unfortunately, one of the set screws stripped when I applied minimal torque with an Allen (hex) key. The other set screw was fine. I'm not sure if this was an isolated defect, but I ended up having to drill one of the set screws out. This is very disappointing considering the slightly higher cost of the VLTOR block. To their credit Brownells' did accept this as a return.
Precision at it's Best(24.08.2015)
I compared this block first hand with seven other blocks before deciding to install the VLTOR block. The finish is superior to most; deep black phosphate and very uniform. The finish is equal to two other excellent choices, the Brownell's branded block and the Bravo Company block. The vertical grooves machined into the block add a pleasing and distinctive look and theoretically may offer some additional surface area for cooling. The machining appears very precise. Installation was straight forward and fit was tight and precise.
Nice gas block(12.07.2014)
This is a nicely done gas block but it touches my handguard (MI Gen 2 SS) very slightly at the screw heads. It is barely touching and I have checked that it is not canted, etc. Disappointing, but I will use it for another build I have planned. I usually prefer clamp on attachment, but the BCM barrel came with a dimple under the gas port so the set screw block I am replacing this with should work fine. A little filing would fix the issue, but I would rather not have to.
Less than useful(14.06.2010)
The fact the screws are on the side should have been screaming at me. It is not low profile at all, the screws protrude so far when mounted it was impossible to fit under the DD 10" Lite rail. The screws do not recess enough for proper clearance. The other version I have seen of this would fit fine as the screws are recessed and are on the bottom.
No problems(19.06.2010)
I have this installed on my SPR build which has a White Oak Armament barrel with Midwest Industries free float handguards and everything works perfectly. My rifle cycles correctly and the bolts for the gas block has not come loose. I did however use vibra-lock on the threads.
Perfect!(07.07.2010)
After having a nasty experience with the "set screw style" gas block I decided to use a clamp on and went with the Vltor. This gas block is very well made. It was a bit tight for the gas tube to fit in which is normal and once the tube was in everything with very smoothly. Make sure to loctite the screws and this thing wil stay forever. I put this underneath my TRX Extreme which is extremely skinny. This will fit under most handguards. I don't believe this gas block is made to fit under the DD Lites and Omegas, and also the LaRues. For the handguards it is made to fit under, I'd prefer no other.
Great Low-Pro Steel Gas Block(16.01.2011)
I used this on a 16" Mid-Length Gas System AA 6.5 Grendel barrel. I have fired it in both extreme heat at 100 degrees F, down to 18 degrees F with never a malfunction using various loads. This is one of the best steel low-pro gas blocks on the market. The gas tube does fit tightly, which is a good thing for a reliable gas circuit. Loc-tite is your friend when tightening the screws after testing that you have a proper gas circuit. Read the limitations as to what handguards it will not fit under. The finish and logo are features that go above what other manufacturers offer on most of these types of products, which shows that VLTOR goes further in making a great part. Every VLTOR product I have used so far shows a higher attention to workmanship, finish, and functionality.
Super nice fit on Black Hole Weap bbl(10.08.2011)
I installed this VLTOR low profile, side clamping, gas block on a standard profile, stainless, 24 inch long, 6.8mm SPC, Black Hole Weaponry barrel. The fit was nice and snug even before I tightened the bolts. It stayed aligned while tightening. I then fit a rifle length gas tube and covered the whole set-up with a Midwest Ind. SS, 15 inch free floating hand-guard. This gas block fit underneath just fine. It fired and cycled from round one and I now have 300 rounds through the rifle without a single problem. No leaks of any gas. Alex Clark Homer, Alaska
Fits like a glove(12.08.2011)
I installed this gas block on a 0.75 inch diameter Black Hole weaponry barrel. It fit nice and snug. The gas tube hole was nice and snug as well. After tightening I attempted to whack the gas block with a mallet to see if it would move. It did not. Now after 300 hot experimental hand-loads there is NO gas leakage. This gas block fit under a Midwest Industries SS type extended hand-guard without touching.

well made quality product. small, compact, fits right.
great piece(03.11.2013)
High value installs easy and worth every penny!
Solid but Flawed(24.08.2016)
Technically there's nothing wrong with this product. It's a solid, tightly-clamping, beautifully-fitting, streamlined gas block. The one enormous problem is that the standard hex screws it uses still have full-sized heads, heads which are (at least seemingly) in direct, if glancing, contact with the inside of my Midwest Industries MLOK guard. Now this pretty well eliminates any chance of the screws walking loose, but it also threatens the free-float nature of the guard. I so far haven't noticed an effect on accuracy, but I only run a red dot. And in addition to the 6 o'clock rail slot (or half of two of them on mine) being blocked by the bottom portion as is typical, the 4:30 and 3 o'clock slots are also unusable now on account of the screws. Lacking grip panels to guard against heat buildup, the middle 20 percent of my 15" rail is ungrip-able because of this gap. Still, if your technique allows for this or you just want a good, solid clamp design, you could definitely do worse.
